Sector 3's National Night Out Against Crime 2008

HI!

LONA joined the other neighborhoods of Sector 3 as we participated in the annual National Night Out Against Crime.

The car caravan was fun, as we drove through each neighborhood, waving at the kids playing, and letting the thugs know we were there, that we care, and we would be watching them and their misdeeds!

We all met up at the Edgerton Community Recreation Center for refreshments and fun. I was face-painting and my husband made balloon animals.

It was a great event, and very positive. Again, I wished that more parents would have accompanied their children to this event. I hope more people are able to come and join in the event next year!

New Picnic Tables for JP RILEY PARK - July 2008

Thanks to all who helped make this possible! The picnic tables look GREAT and are a welcome addition to the family-feel that we want for this playground area.

Thank you to all the contributors, and the hard-working hands that installed them!

Now, let's go have a nice picnic as the kids play nearby! :)

PS - It might need to be mentioned that this, like most parks, is a "bring-it-in, take-it-out" place. That means that you must not litter, or you will face a fine, as well as a special place in "heck" for messing up a nice locale for our residents.

I noticed the trash on the ground right after the tables were installed. If anyone sees the culprits, please shame them into picking up after themselves! Adults and teenagers should know better and be role models for the many young children in our area.

Please help take care of this park!!!

LONA has worked really hard on the playground, new basketball court and the picnic area. Please help to make it a clean and inviting place for our neighbors to enjoy! ~ Pam

LONA thanks...

LONA's President, Mike Visconte, presented the LONA Cookbook to the Deputy Fire Chief  as a small "Thank You" for the consitant high level of service that our Engine 5 provides on a daily basis - as well as the other local houses! Firefighters also attend our meetings and help our members with safety tips and ideas, as well as up-to-date information on the many fires that we have been noticing in our area.

LONA wants to thank and recognize the dedication of our Lyell Branch Library's Head Librarian, Shelley Matthews, for all that she does for our group, and the neighborhood as a whole. She arranges for many great events for our area's children, and these services are greatly needed and appreciated!

LONA also thanks the NSC's (Neighborhood Service Center - formerly the NET) Molly Clifford for attending our meeting, and braving our group's many questions. We invite her to return anytime!

LONA Flowers 2008!

Thank you for the wonderful flowers that were donated by the city's Flower City Looking Good program! Our neighbors/members really appreciate them!

And "thank you" to Mike and Fran for collecting them for us! (I hope all that dirt was easy to remove from your van!)
